PURPOSE

The primary goal of the Mid-Atlantic Brass Band Festival's competitions is to provide a supportive competitive environment where participants can compete and receive extensive feedback on their performance. Participants can look forward to educational suggestions for improvement from the area's leading experts in the fields in which they compete. Non-competing participants are encouraged to come to watch the performances.

Accompanists

Accompanists are required for the college and adult competitions (unless the piece is written as unaccompanied). The MABBF does not supply accompanists, but we do work to supply information of area accompanists who are available on these dates. As more accompanists confirm their availability, more will be added. Participants are responsible for contacting their own accompanists and scheduling any needed rehearsal times in advance.

"[Tim De Maeseneer] taught our group about proper embouchure and about how to move properly between intervals. For his clinic, he was so prepared and seemed to know everything about the European sound and he actually had worksheets for the entire auditorium. His solo performances were beautiful, and the European sound he talked about in his clinics was bouncing off the walls."
